Once in the summer months, there are several holidays to mention, that of the Fiesta en Honor de la Virgen del Carmen on the 16th of July, who is the saint that the fishermen pray to. This holiday was declared a tourist interest holiday in 1965, in which the fishing and game sector honors the Virgen del Carmen by taking her out to the fishing boats. It is certainly not a holiday to be missed during your holidays in La Manga!! Another holiday that shouldn´t be missed is that of La Misa del Gallo, which is the last big celebration of the year.
Local Holidays in San Pedro de Pinatar
The celebration of San Pedro de Pinatar is at the end of June, with the most important day being the 29th (Dia de Santiago Apostol, the patron of the city),
San Javier
In San Javier, its patron holidays take place in December, especially on the 3rd of the month.
Los Alcazares
The patron holidays of Alcazares take place in the second fortnight of August, and are called the Semana de la Huerta. The municipal holiday for the city is on the 13th of October.
La Manga del Mar Menor
La Manga del Mar Menor is a municipality which gains most of its income from tourism, and because of this, has a local holiday on hte 27th of September called Dia Mundial del Turismo (World Tourism Day). |
